Energy storage

How home batteries work

A battery needs solar — you must have a solar system installed for storage to work and to be eligible for the battery rebate. It stores the solar your roof makes during the day so you can use it at night instead of buying it back at peak rates. A hybrid inverter manages the flow: solar first to your loads, then to the battery, then to the grid — and in reverse after sunset.

    Charge from surplus solar

    Once your home's demand is met, the excess charges the battery rather than being exported for a small feed-in credit.

    Discharge through the evening

    From late afternoon the battery covers cooking, heating, lighting and standby loads — usually the most expensive hours of the day.

    Smart tariff shifting

    Systems can also charge from cheap off-peak grid power in winter and discharge during peak windows, which cuts bills further.

    Backup when the grid drops

    Blackout protection is optional — request it and we fit a backup gateway so essential circuits keep running through an outage.

Built to last

LFP batteries are rated for daily cycling for well over a decade, with warranties guaranteeing 60–70% of original capacity at end of term. In practice a well-installed, well-ventilated battery keeps working long past its warranty period.

Solar battery rebates

Battery rebates in New South Wales

Since 1 July 2025 the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program has cut roughly 30% off the installed cost of an eligible home battery, delivered as an up-front discount rather than a cheque. The discount steps down each year, so installing sooner keeps more of it. In New South Wales you can add the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme incentive on top when the battery is connected to a Virtual Power Plant.
